FESTIVAL

In 2014, the International Circus Festival of Ceará (FICC) was born—a project entirely dedicated to the art of the circus, celebrating its power as a dynamic and transcendent language capable of overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers.

Over these past 10 years, by honoring circus arts in all their forms and expressions—from big tops to stages and public squares across Ceará’s eastern and western coasts—FICC has firmly placed Ceará on the global map of major circus festivals.
Since its inception, it has served as a vital platform for the growth and promotion of circus arts, both in Ceará and Brazil.

From the beginning, the festival has been a key promoter of circus arts from around the world while also fostering local production. It has also become an important space for discussing relevant issues within the circus community—which is why we say the festival brought with it “A Time to Talk About Circus,” the title of the book commemorating its 10th uninterrupted edition.

With the mission of promoting and preserving the rich tradition of circus arts, each edition of the festival offers a wide range of activities to stimulate cultural innovation, providing professional and artistic development opportunities for artists and communities alike.

Beyond performances, the festival’s diverse programming includes workshops, artist residencies, book launches, and thematic discussions through roundtables and debates—all in an atmosphere of celebration and learning.

The 11th FICC – Ceará International Circus Festival is sponsored by Funarte and supported by the Ceará State Department of Culture, made possible through the 1st Scheduled Festivals Grant of the Aldir Blanc Law 2. Organized by: Iluminura Cultural Productions, Funarte, Ministry of Culture, and the Federal Government. This project is supported by the 2023 Funarte Program for Continued Actions.
